Heidi Klum Unveils This Year’s Jaw-Dropping Halloween Costume

Heidi Klum has once again brought her A-game to Halloween, this year transforming into E.T. for her highly anticipated costume reveal.

The star hosted her 23rd annual Halloween party in NYC on Thursday, where she unveiled the look on the carpet. Klum channeled a direct scene from Steven Spielberg’s 1982 sci-fi classic E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, dressed as E.T. disguised in a hat and blonde wig; she appeared alongside husband Tom Kaulitz, who was also made over as the more traditional E.T.

Klum had been teasing the costume on her social media platforms throughout the day as she got ready, and a close-up video on her Instagram shows Klum’s face blended into E.T.’s neck, with a blinking head perched on top of her own.

Klum’s over-the-top costumes have become an Oct. 31 tradition, in recent years appearing as a peacock, a life-like worm, Princess Fiona from Shrek and Jessica Rabbit, all with the assistance of heavy prosthetics and often hours in the makeup chair. She had previously teased on Instagram, “You’ll never guess what this year has in store.”

In a recent conversation with People, the America’s Got Talent judge revealed she had been working on this year’s costume for months, with time for molds, prosthetics and fittings.

“There goes a lot into it because I wanted to be so spectacular that this is not something I can just throw together overnight,” she said. “It takes a long time. It takes a lot of planning. And also then when I do the reveal, I want to have a special reveal because I know I have so many fans, and those particular Halloween fans are people who love also dressing up and coming up with amazing things.”

Halloween queen Janelle Monáe also appeared as E.T. this year, revealing her own take on the iconic character on Wednesday.

Klum’s Halloween party, presented by Butterfinger, Mattel and Prime Video at the Hard Rock Hotel New York, featured DJ sets by Questlove and Gottmik & Violet.
