Help us cover hurricanes » Yale Climate Connections

Amazing news: We just got a new report on your donations to support our extreme weather coverage, and we’ve blown past our goal of $10,000. Every donation we receive helps us protect more people, so we’re setting a new goal: Can we make it to $20,000 by tonight at midnight?

I’m so proud to write for Eye on the Storm at Yale Climate Connections alongside my longtime colleague Jeff Masters, whose storied career continues in this new era and keeps making a huge impact. In March, Jeff reported on DOGE’s staff cuts at NOAA’s Hurricane Hunters, providing much-needed, in-depth clarity on an emerging threat. Within a week of publication, flight crew members were reinstated, meaning that the National Hurricane Center can continue using data gathered by these Hurricane Hunters to forecast when and where hurricanes will make landfall.

Jeff and I know that with your help, we’ll be able to produce life-saving coverage that reaches even more people this year.

That’s why we started this campaign. Will you consider becoming a monthly donor today?

To thank you for your support, when you become a monthly donor, you’ll be invited to join an exclusive, monthly-donors-only conversation with Jeff Masters and me over Zoom later this summer. Today is the last day to qualify.

If you can become a monthly donor at $15 a month it will make a huge difference in sustaining our hurricane coverage. We aren’t funded directly by Yale University, so donors of all types are essential to keep our work going. Every bit of support makes a difference!

When you go to the donation page, make sure you’ve selected the “Sustaining gift” option, and remember that if you set up your donation to be anonymous, we won’t have your information to invite you to our Zoom conversation.

If you’d rather donate by check, make it out to “Yale University” and write “For Yale Climate Connections” on the check. Mail it to: Yale Climate Connections, Yale University, Attn: Development office, 205 Prospect Street, New Haven, CT 06511

Yale University is a nonprofit 501(c)3. Its federal tax ID is 06-0646973.

Thanks for your support as we prepare for the imminent hurricane season,
