The name is wrong, very wrong.
That is if you have been pronouncing Dainel Craig’s surname as Cregg.
“I have a bone to pick with you,” the Knives Out star told Stephen Colbert during the Dec. 2 episode of The Late Show. “Say my name.”
While the host pronounced the English star’s name correctly, Craig revealed Colbert has been pronouncing his name incorrectly every time he has appeared on the show.
“Six times” Craig added, before adding, “I don’t say Colbert” with an emphasis on the T.
Once more, he repeated, “Daniel Cregg…Daniel Cr-ayg.”
And this time, Colbert got it. “I hear the difference,” he noted. “That is subtle, and I apologize. Daniel Cregg, f–k that guy, Daniel Cr-ayg, I’m so sorry please accept my apology.”
And to make it up to Craig, he suggested that the actor say his name wrong, with a heavy t: “You can call me Colbert if you want.”
