Julian McMahon sadly passed away this week at the age of 56, but he was able to see his final movie get released earlier this year.
The actor made his final public appearance back in March 2025 at the SXSW premiere of The Surfer, which hit theaters everywhere in May 2025.
In the psychological thriller directed by Lorcan Finnegan, a man (Nicolas Cage) returns to the idyllic beach of his childhood to surf with his son. But his desire to hit the waves is thwarted by a group of locals whose mantra is “don’t live here, don’t surf here.” Humiliated and angry, the man is drawn into a conflict that keeps rising in concert with the punishing heat of the summer and pushes him to his breaking point.
Julian‘s final Instagram post was put up to promote the film.
“Hey there everyone. Just letting you know we have a great movie coming out, directed by Lorcan Finnegan. Its premiere is at SXSW, very exciting, and it’s in theaters May 2nd. It’s a psychological thriller, very unique, and very entertaining. I hope you enjoy it as much as we enjoyed making it. Cheers,” Julian wrote in his last post.
