Deborra-Lee Furness made a statement about her split from Hugh Jackman that had everyone talking this week.

The exes, who share two kids, announced their separation after nearly three decades of marriage in a joint statement back in September 2023. However, this week, the 69-year-old actress hinted at more.

“My heart and compassion goes out to everyone who has traversed the traumatic journey of betrayal. It’s a profound wound that cuts deep,” she said in a new statement this week. “However, I believe in a higher power and that God or the universe, whatever you relate to as your guidance, is always working for us.”

Now, Australian radio personality Gus Worland, who says he’s been friends with Hugh since they were kids, went on the Ben Fordham Live radio show and mentioned the statement.

“It’s not just that statement, but the last couple of years have been difficult,” Gus shared. “No one wants anyone to go through what they’ve been through, and, of course, they go through everything publicly because of the type of people and fame that they have…One thing I’ve really been strict on, or disciplined on, is to let them do what they have to do. I was over in New York with [Hugh] last month and he’s fine. He is going along well. He’s moving on with his life and I hope that Deb does as well.”

After Hugh and Deborra-Lee broke up, Hugh‘s romance with Sutton Foster was confirmed when the two were photographed holding hands on a date in Los Angeles in January 2025. They were just spotted out together holding hands recently.
