I Tried Quince’s Best-Selling European Linen Sheets

I’ve never been the type of person to care much about the sheets on my bed, whether talking about thread count or the type of fabric—sheets are just sheets, right? I just care if they’re clean so I can sleep between them at night. But then I got a set of Quince’s European Linen Sheets and it’s safe to say that they not only converted me into being a person with real opinions about sheets, but ruined me for life—they’re just that good. Now, they aren’t just a part of the rotation of sheet sets, they are the only sheets I’ll use. I’ll happily rewash my set every week because there’s nothing like slipping into them at bedtime.

Quince’s European Linen Sheet Set has more than 6,300 reviews and has a 4.8 star rating, but it also was the top budget-friendly choice for Real Simple’s round-up of Best Linen Sheets. What I love most about them is that they’re super soft (almost like flannel) but also lightweight. They’re the perfect year-round sheet because they’re cooling and moisture-wicking on hot summer nights, and cozy and insulating during chilly winter ones. It’s easy to understand why Quince’s bedding has a cult following.

Quince’s European Linen Sheet Set is very affordable compared to other brands on the market (some run upwards of $700) and they come in twin, twin XL, queen, king, and California king sizes. I live in Colorado, a state with all four seasons (sometimes in the same day) so it’s crucial to have sheets that can be used both on cold winter nights and sweltering summer ones. I’m also almost 50—an age where I often don’t sleep through the night and get hot flashes—so it’s imperative that my sheets offer breathability and are moisture-wicking. Quince’s European Linen Sheets check all the boxes. Bonus: It comes in your choice of 35 colors and patterns, so if you’re into decor, you have options.

Another thing I love about these sheets is that they bring back great memories of my vacation to Portugal last year, as cheesy as that sounds! Portugal is well-known for its centuries-old linen production industry, and while I don’t know where Quince sources its European linen, nevertheless, it reminds me of my trip and the linens I shopped for while there. Another great quality that the sheets have is that they’re rated STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX®, meaning they are made without the use of harmful chemicals or pesticides. I’m definitely trying to be more aware of toxins in my environment and avoid them if I can.

The sheet set washes and dries easily without any fussy instructions or special detergents. They fold neatly to be stored in the linen closet (though I wish there was a house elf in there that would iron them for me). They are soft, cool, and soothing and only get softer the more often they’re washed.

According to our in-house lab testing, the Quince sheets are a Goldilocks fabric, with a medium weight and a not-too-silky, not-too-scratchy feel. We loved that they actually absorb moisture and regulate temperature for hot sleepers. Just note, they’re a little large compared to other sheets we’ve tested. 

Now that I own these wonderful linen sheets, I want to explore Quince’s other linen bedding and revamp my bed’s duvet and quilt. If the sheets are anything to go by, I’ll soon be sleeping like a baby with the other items in their lineup.
