When most adults think about Epcot at Walt Disney World, visions of drinking around the park’s World Showcase and riding Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind may come to mind. And there’s a new place to have exceptional cocktails and savory snacks at the park, hiding inside the iconic geodesic dome that beckons you in. GEO-82 is Disney World’s first adults-only (21 and older) bar inside one of its theme parks.
The lounge has sort of a speakeasy vibe, especially since the entrance is a little challenging to find if you don’t know exactly what you’re looking for. The entrance to GEO-82 is at the exit of Spaceship Earth, inside the room where guests can play interactive games before heading back outside to the Florida sun. After checking in, guests can take the stairs or elevator to the lounge. I love this since the lounge is on the smaller side, and it prevents people from waiting around in what can be an already crowded space.
Inside GEO-82
Everything about the design of the waiting area and inside the lounge is inspired by Spaceship Earth, which Disney adults will love. Inside the lobby, I love seeing the silver triangle tiles that make up the Spaceship Earth facade on the wall, along with some fun artwork depicting Spaceship Earth and the Walt Disney World monorail.
Inside the bar, the entire back wall of GEO-82 is covered in windows, which bring in plenty of natural light during the day and offer great views of EPCOT’s World Celebration area of the park. This is a unique spot to watch Epcot’s nightly fireworks, Luminous: The Symphony of Us, though it’s also open for lunch.
The GEO-82 menu
A wide variety of drinks and snacks are available to enjoy at GEO-82. Signature cocktails include a Brown Butter Old-Fashioned, with real brown butter, maple, and Hella Cocktail Co. Mexican Chocolate Bitters for a well-balanced drink that any bourbon fan will enjoy.
GEO-82 is known for its extensive bourbon collection. Guests can enjoy a sample of four bourbons with the Exclusive Disney Select Bourbon Flight. I also love the Strawberry-Black Pepper Sour, made with Campari, Luxardo Maraschino liqueur, strawberries, lemon, and black pepper for a sweet and spicy cocktail with a big hit of fresh fruit flavor.
Those who don’t drink alcohol will find that the two zero-proof cocktail options are quite tasty. The Manhattan in the Morning is my pick, which is a nonalcoholic version of a Manhattan with a little spike of cold brew coffee and black walnut bitters.
My favorite dish on the menu of small plates is the truffled ahi tuna, which is topped with a whiskey barrel-aged soy truffle ponzu, citrus, scallion, tobiko, and black sesame seeds. This may be one of the best bites in all of EPCOT right now.
The GEO-82 Fireworks Experience
If you really want a unique experience at GEO-82, book the GEO-82 Fireworks Experience, which is $179 per person, plus tax and tip. You’ll be seated in a guaranteed window-adjacent seat (though anyone in the lounge at the time of the fireworks can see the show from their seats, too).
You’ll start with a glass of Champagne that’s exclusive to GEO-82 and cannot be had anywhere else at Disney. Even better, bubbles are served in coup glasses that feature the Spaceship Earth motif. There are also two event-exclusive cocktails: a Margarita and an Old Fashioned, that can be ordered at no extra cost.
Just before the show starts, a savory tasting tower featuring pimento cheese macarons, a small cheese and meat tray, and deviled eggs, precede a beautiful plate of sweets, including chocolate-covered strawberries, bonbons, and Baumkuchen cake (a traditional German layered cake made right at Epcot).
As the fireworks begin, the lights in the lounge dim, and the music for the show is piped in, so you get the full experience.
How to make reservations for GEO-82
