How long have you known Zibby? I’ve known her for a little over a decade, since before she put together her podcast, Moms Don’t Have Time to Read Books, even. Initially, our kids were in summer camp together.
Are you a big reader? I love to read, but I find it difficult with life taking over and my own personal projects and all that. I only have one child, but I can use that excuse, too, right? I will read Zibby’s book, but I haven’t read it yet. I tend to read books that are more in the category of self-help — something that has to do with soul work, if you will.
How did you pick your outfit for the party? Well, that’s pretty easy for me. I always wear black. There’s no new black. Black is the best; it just feels beautiful and real, and your face pops. And I wore my cowboy boots — I mean, I love my cowboy boots. And, of course, it was an Upper East Side luncheon, so I paired it with a Kelly bag. That’s the Gemini in me, I guess.

Was the party fun?
Listen, it’s a lot of authors. If I’m being honest with you, I don’t necessarily get along with other authors all the time. I’m an extrovert. A lot of authors, they’re not, so it can be awkward because they can write these amazing stories down on paper but when you talk to them, they’re not that fascinating.

Meet anyone interesting?
Tali Weinstein, who ran for Manhattan DA, was there. She and I chatted. I met an author who worked for Jordan Belfort — the subject of The Wolf of Wall Street. She came out with her own book about it, and it was just optioned for a movie. Zibby always gets an eclectic group of people together.

How does it feel to be the woman of the hour?
Great. My husband, Kyle, threw this for me because I’m always throwing book parties for everyone else. I invited people I grew up with, people I raised my kids with, and then authors who were podcast guests of mine. Oh, and I’ve had the same dental hygienist since I was 4 years old, Frannie. She came.

What’s her apartment like?
Her apartment is something that dreams are made of. It reminds me of Meryl Streep’s townhouse in The Devil Wears Prada. There was plenty of space, and I found myself looking around wishing I had a place like that.
