Isabel May to Join Neve Campbell in Horror Movie Sequel

Ghostface has a new target.

Isabel May, best known for starring in Yellowstone prequels 1883 and 1923, has nabbed the plum role of Neve Campbell’s daughter in Scream 7 and is in talks to star opposite the Scream Queen.

The seventh installment of the horror franchise, being made by Spyglass Entertainment, is in rebuilding mode after losing its young stars Jenna Ortega and Melissa Barrera. Campbell, who sat out the previous installment due to a salary dispute, is back for the new feature that will focus on her character, Sidney Prescott, and her daughter.

Kevin Williamson — the creator of the franchise who penned the script to the Wes Craven-directed original, as well as Scream 2 and Scream 4 — is directing. Guy Busick, who wrote 2022‘s Scream and Scream VI, wrote the script.

Paramount Pictures is set to release Scream 7 in theaters on Feb. 27, 2026. Project X Entertainment’s James Vanderbilt, William Sherak and Paul Neinstein serve as producers.

Campbell’s casting came as the new movie was in need of a creative reset. Barrera was fired from the franchise last year following social media posts addressing the Israel-Hamas war, and Ortega had quietly exited the project months earlier. In the wake of these exits, the installment’s original director Christopher Landon announced that he was stepping away.

Filmmakers Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, known as Radio Silence, helped bring the series back to prominence with 2022’s Scream. Last year’s Scream VI, which the pair also directed, collected $166.3 million at the global box office.

Wes Craven directed the original 1996 film Scream from the script that Williamson initially wrote on spec. Sidney has been at the heart of the franchise since that first movie, which also starred Courteney Cox as Gale Weathers and David Arquette as Dewey Riley.

In addition to playing Elsa Dutton in 1883 and 1923, May had a role in the 2022 rom-com feature I Want You Back and co-starred in the Apple TV+ series Masters of the Air. She is repped by CAA and Principal Entertainment.
