Jenna Ortega revealed the real reason why she exited the Scream franchise.

If you don’t know, in November of 2023, it was announced that Jenna would not reprise her role in the film’s seventh movie, where she portrayed Tara Carpenter. The timing of the announcement came just after her co-star, Melissa Barrera, was let go from the seventh film due to social media postings about Israel-Palestine.

Scream VI directors, Tyler Gillett and Matt Bettinelli-Olpin, also had stepped away.

In a new interview with The Cut, Jenna explained, “It had nothing to do with pay or scheduling. It was all kind of falling apart. If Scream VII wasn’t going to be with that team of directors and those people I fell in love with, then it didn’t seem like the right move for me in my career at the time.”
