Jon Stewart Returning as Host of Night of Too Many Stars Benefit

Jon Stewart will be one of the brightest stars lighting up New York’s Beacon Theatre on March 31.
The veteran multi-hyphenate will return as the host of Night of Too Many Stars, a comedy concert and live auction fundraiser in support of Next for Autism. Stewart will share the stage with a roster of performers that includes Ronny Chieng, Alex Edelman, Susie Essman, Jim Gaffigan, Jeff Garlin, James Austin Johnson, Sam Morril, Please Don’t Destroy, Chris Rock, Adam Sandler, Amy Schumer, Sarah Sherman, Max Weinberg‘s Jukebox and others to come.
Next for Autism was founded more than 20 years ago by parents of autistic children who could not find adequate support for their families. The event, Night of Too Many Stars, was then launched by longtime Saturday Night Live and Conan O’Brien writer-producer Robert Smigel and wife Michelle Smigel after they found it challenging to find education for an autistic son, Daniel. Funds raised from Night of Too Many Stars will support initiatives that target work, home and social well-being programs for autistic adults.
“We created Night of Too Many Stars with our friends in the comedy world at a time when most organizations focused only on research for a cure,” the Smigels said in a statement. “Seeing so many parents struggle to find appropriate services and schools for their children inspired us to create an event to support the vital programs and services that individuals with autism need right now.”
Event committee members include the Smigels, Dee and Tommy Hilfiger, Laura and Harry Slatkin, Mitch and Bellanca Smigel Rutter, Lucia Smigel, Jackie and Adam Sandler and Tracey and Jon Stewart.
