Kliff Kingsbury says Jayden Daniels’ arm is stronger

The theme of Washington’s offseason has been quarterback Jayden Daniels’ apparent weight gain. No, the star quarterback didn’t gain too much weight, but “bulked up,” something he said was his goal heading into the offseason.
We saw the pictures. While it wasn’t overly noticeable, you could certainly tell the Commanders’ star spent the offseason getting stronger. His coaches and teammates noticed. On Wednesday, the Commanders held an open OTA practice, with the media present, and there were plenty of pictures of Daniels.
Offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury was among those who spoke on Wednesday, and he noticed that Daniels is stronger where it counts the most.
“I think just through getting older and working out,” Kingsbury said. “I don’t think it was anything that we really said, ‘Hey, you gotta be this weight or that weight.’ I mean, he knows what he has to do to protect himself and where he feels comfortable playing, but the arm strength, it looks better and you can tell he’s stronger, there’s no doubt.”
Daniels’ arm is stronger? That’s good news for the Commanders and bad news for the rest of the NFL. Arm strength wasn’t a problem for Daniels. Neither was accuracy. Now, you combine a stronger, accurate arm with a year of experience in Kingsbury’s offense, and the sky is truly the limit for Washington in 2025.
The Commanders wisely kept adding around Daniels this offseason instead of being content with last season’s success. That’s good because Daniels is never content and always looks for ways to improve.
