Cheryl Burke is setting the record straight following those “new face” comments.
Recently, the 41-year-old Dancing with the Stars alum has been hit with a lot of “cruel” comments about her appearance, and in a new interview, Cheryl revealed that she has lost around 35 pounds after making changes to her diet and exercise as well as working on her mental health.

Cheryl largely credited her transformation to adopting a new mindset about her body after years of being “obsessive” over the number she would see on the scale.
“As a dancer, we were stuck in front of mirrors constantly, it was important to stay at a certain weight, and my dance coaches were really strict,” Cheryl shared. “It has always been something that kind of weighed on me.”
She noted that the pressure would “affect my mood on a daily basis if I didn’t feel like I was skinny enough,” adding, “Just being consistently chastised about my weight, it wasn’t fun. I even used to travel with a scale.”
Cheryl credited intermittent fasting, eating clean foods, walking with her dog, walking on a treadmill and taking fitness classes for helping her shed the weight in the past few months.
“I just like to continue to move my body and be active. I’ve noticed not only my skin changing into mature skin, but also just my metabolism has changed quite a lot,” Cheryl said while reflecting on entering her 40s.
“I’ve noticed my feet cramping randomly if I’m not moving often,” she continued. “Obviously, I’m not as active as I was when I was on [DWTS], but it’s just been a whole change for me.”
Also in interview, Cheryl responded to the trolls who criticized her changed appearance and accused her of taking a weight-loss drug.
“What’s hurtful, I think, with seeing all these comments is that it’s mainly women attacking women. It’s such a shame,” Cheryl admitted. “These are all assumptions that people have thrown at me, as far as Ozempic, my face. I’ve always had criticism, but what’s shocking is that this is worse than when I gained weight. These are really mean and cruel messages.”
She then clarified, “I just want people to know that I’m not sick and I have never gone under the knife for anything. I didn’t get a brow lift, I didn’t get a face transplant. This is my body and this is how I feel best in it today.”
Back in September 2024, Cheryl spoke about deciding to go celibate for the past three years.
