Leslie Bibb is dishing on the viral The White Lotus moment with her character, Kate, and Kate’s friends – Jaclyn (Michelle Monaghan) and Laurie (Carrie Coon) – as they discuss Donald Trump.
When Kate shares she’s an Independent, not a Republican or Democrat, she’s asked if she voted for Trump in the election. Kate won’t answer and continues moving the conversation along, but it’s strongly implied that she did vote for him.
Now, Leslie is speaking out about filming the moment, and sharing the fun fact that they actually filmed this scene well before the 2024 election and before then even knew Trump would be running again.

Leslie told THR, “I feel like [White Lotus creator Mike White] had binoculars into the future because when we did it, it just didn’t feel [timely anymore]. I was like, ‘We already did that. That was in the past.’ I don’t even think Trump was running when we did it — it was in January or February of last year or something, so yeah, that was pretty wild.”
In another interview, she did confirm the scene was written in 2022, and just coincidentally aligned with the current political landscape.
Leslie added to Variety, “[Everything] feels so divisive, and yet we’re not. I mean, they’re all sort of passionate women and have these feelings, all with different stances, but there’s some tether between them. You don’t have to throw the baby out with the bath water just because of their political views.”
