Mickey Rourke has officially exited Celebrity Big Brother UK following bouts of “inappropriate language” and “unacceptable behavior.”
“Mickey Rourke has agreed to leave the Celebrity Big Brother House this evening following a discussion with Big Brother regarding further use of inappropriate language and instances of unacceptable behavior,” a spokesperson for the reality show said in a statement to The Hollywood Reporter.
The actor’s removal from the show comes after he displayed “threatening and aggressive” behavior amid a disagreement with former Love Island contestant Chris Hughes.
The Sin City star has been involved in a wave of controversial moments since the cast joined the Celebrity Big Brother house on Monday. During Wednesday’s episode, Rourke asked former Dance Moms star Jojo Siwa about the pop star’s sexuality, to which Rourke replied, “If I stay longer than four days, you won’t be gay anymore.”
The interaction eventually escalated to Rourke uttering a homophobic slur. When Rourke and his fellow housemates began discussing the show’s rules — which include voting one another out — he said, “I’m going to vote the lesbian out real quick,” a comment pointed towards Siwa, which she pointed out was “homophobic.” Shortly after, Rourke yelled out, “I need a fuck,” before pointing at Siwa and saying, “I’m not talking to you,” and saying he was “talking about a cigarette.”
Rourke was issued a warning for the incident. “I apologize. I don’t have dishonorable intentions – I’m just talking smack,” he said in the Big Brother diary room. “I wasn’t taking it all so serious. I didn’t mean it in any bad intentions and if I did, sorry.”
The moment swiftly went viral, drawing in more controversy for Rourke when Bella Thorne accused him of sexual misconduct when they worked together on the 2020 horror film Girl.
“This fucking dude. GROSS,” the actress wrote over a photo of Rourke on Celebrity Big Brother. “I had to work with this man — in a scene where I’m on my knees and with my hands zip tied around my back. He’s supposed to take a metal grinder to my knee cap and instead he used it on my genitals through my jeans. Hitting them over and over again. I had bruises on my pelvic bone.”
She added, “Working with Mickey was one of the all time worst experiences of my life working as an actress.”
