My friend says I should paint it white and rip out the marble
My friend says I should paint my kitchen white. I have a kitchen made from knotty alder (not cherry as people often think). She also says it's "too much wood" I need to rip out the marble because it's "sooooo 2007" and get quartz. It's "rainforest marble" as I've been told and quite rare and expensive. But she says it's tacky and I need to go full monochromatic. I do like the way that looks but what should I do? My house was built in 2007 by a master cabinet maker who tragically shot himself on the front lawn. I feel it might be a real diss to paint his cabinets white and plus don't they look OK as is? If I ever sell my house would anybody buy it as is? Or would they walk in and turn their nose up at the wood? I live in central Washington state in the mountains so the theme fits, yet I still see all the new houses doing that all white with black trim thing. Most of them, to be honest, are terrible "interpretations" of "farmitecture". You'll see folks do that to a 50s rambler and think they're being all Chip and Joanna about it. where I live there is a bit of money and buyers are quite picky, even downright obsessive about aesthetic details.
