New Owala FreeSip Water Bottle Launch

As a proud member of an Owala household, I’m always impressed by the brand’s intuitive solutions to my biggest hydration excuses. After years of lugging around wide-mouth insulated bottles (and not-so-gracefully chugging them at the gym), the brand’s proprietary hidden straw truly spoke to me. Luckily, the brand just dropped three large tumblers that finally feature a cup holder-compatible design — and if you’ve resisted Owala thus far, this newest bunch of triple-insulated bottles might just convert you. The 40-ounce FreeSip Tumbler and the FreeSip Sway bottles (in two sizes!) hit Owala’s retail site today and head to Target shelves on February 9, but there’s no guessing how long they might stick around.

Consider this massive vessel as the be-all and end-all of Owala’s offerings. It marries some of the best functions of its top products — from the hidden FreeSip straw to its classic 40-ounce tumbler’s side handle — in one leakproof design. All of Owala’s innovative bells and whistles (including a locking lid and a detachable straw) come standard with a new low-profile lid, too. At $45, it’s only a touch more expensive than the brand’s standard tumbler.

If the original FreeSip’s slim carrying loop doesn’t cut it, consider this sturdy bucket-style handle instead. Consistent with all of the new bottles, it is available in eight new and returning colors: Eucalyptus, Pretty in Purple, Sparkling Sherbet, Sea Captain, Lightly Toasted, Orange Grove, Summer Harvest, and Very Very Dark. Each bottle is BPA-free and opens at the push of a spring-loaded button.

Owala’s largest FreeSip tumbler rivals the functionality of more utilitarian options — but the vivid color combo sparks joy in our days, too. This 40-ounce version brings the same triple-layer insulation we’ve come to expect but with a thick handle up top for easy transport. We’d pack this one for hikes and weekend soccer tournaments, but it’s just as handy for slipping into your work tote.
