NHL Playoffs 2025: Schedule, bracket, scores, results for all first-round series in pursuit of the Stanley Cup
Thursday night’s Stanley Cup Playoffs action saw a pair of team take strangleholds on their respective series, and two more squads scored huge Game 3 victories. Perhaps most notably, the Toronto Maple Leafs notched a second consecutive overtime win over the Ottawa Senators and now hold a 3-0 lead over their provincial rival.
After Max Domi came up clutch in Game 2, defensive defenseman Simon Benoit was the unlikely hero with the overtime winner on Thursday. Benoit stepped into a loose puck just inside the offensive blue line and blasted a shot past Ottawa goaltender Linus Ullmark for the win.
In the other Eastern Conference matchup, the Florida Panthers shut out the Tampa Bay Lightning to take a 2-0 back home. Nate Schmidt scored the decisive goal early in the first period, his third tally of the postseason.
The Western Conference saw a pair of blowouts with underdogs taking both matchups. First, the Minnesota Wild won their second consecutive game against the Vegas Golden Knights to take a 2-1 series lead. Matt Boldy and Kirill Kaprizov combined for three goals and an assist as they continue to torch Vegas.
Needing a counterpunch after coming up empty through the first two games in Winnipeg, the St. Louis Blues got just that with a decisive 7-2 win over the Jets. Pavel Buchnevich scored a hat trick as St. Louis chased Connor Hellebuyck from the crease in the third period.
