Nick Bosa Shared a Heartfelt Locker Room Moment With Brock Purdy After NFC Championship Win

After the San Francisco 49ers beat the Detroit Lions, 34–31 in the NFC championship to advance to Super Bowl LVIII, standout defensive end Nick Bosa couldn’t help but be overcome with emotion when talking with starting quarterback Brock Purdy in the locker room.

Purdy, who was the final pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, has far exceeded expectations, leading the San Francisco offense admirably since taking over for quarterbacks Trey Lance and Jimmy Garoppolo last season. Now, with the starting job firmly his, Purdy led San Francisco to the Super Bowl in his first full season as the starter.

“Bro, the fact that you are doing this blows my mind,” Bosa told Purdy in the 49ers locker room after the game.

“All of us, bro,” Purdy replied.

“Did you think you’d be this good? I think I’ve asked you this before…like how much confidence did you have? ’Cause I was the second pick in the draft and I lacked confidence at times.”

“It’s all part of it, bro. It’s a game,” Purdy replied before giving Bosa a hug.

Purdy’s confidence and humility have been praised across the NFL. He knows that he’s playing well, but also feels that he can continue to get better.

San Francisco faces the defending champion Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LVIII, which will certainly be Purdy’s biggest test yet in a 49ers uniform.
