Snow White Star Changes Her Tune Amid Disney Premiere Debacle!

Did someone get some media training after all?
Disney isn’t quite sweeping Snow White under the rug… or burying it in a glass coffin… But man they’ve shown their lack of confidence in it! Or maybe in its cast.
The Mouse House made the rare move of holding this weekend’s premiere with ZERO press, skipping the tradition of inviting outlets to ask questions on the red carpet. That could be for Peter Dinklage, who trashed the idea of making the film before being added to the cast, or for Gal Gadot, whose stance on Israel’s government is off-putting to a huge chunk of their demo… Young people are oddly bearish on genocide.

But most think the main issue is the film’s young lead, Rachel Zegler. She’s a real star, she can totally sing AND act… But she also hasn’t really been playing the game. She’s been outspoken over Israel, the election… but also over the movie industry and classic Disney content. She’s made a lot of folks angry with her blunt, no-filter approach. But maybe she’s changed her tune, so to speak?
See, on Wednesday, she performed the song Waiting on a Wish in a special promotional event at the Alcázar de Segovia Castle in Spain, the castle that inspired the one in the original cartoon back in 1937. Disney posted a video clip to their Instagram:
Unfortunately folks are still unhappy with her. And one spoke up, blasting Rachel’s singing ability:
“NO thanks. Disney [was it] so difficult to cast a soprano ???”
So how did she respond? Kinda the way you’d want your star to! She clapped back… but didn’t hit back! Instead, she used some judo to redirect the critic to… another product offered by the fine folks at Disney! She wrote:
“i am a soprano! west side story is now streaming on disney+!
“
Ha! Steven Spielberg‘s acclaimed version of West Side Story was distributed by 20th Century Studios, formerly 20th Century Fox… meaning it’s ultimately owned by Disney these days.
So yeah, it’s a flex AND a plug! Pretty clever! And while she may not have liked everything in the original film, she’s sure doing her best to sell this one! She posted a tease of her Spain performance on her own IG, writing:
“españa! what an amazing couple of days! from performing “waiting on a wish” in front of alcázar de segovia, to reuniting with our fearless director marc webb, and meeting all of the loveliest little princesses and knights, i am overflowing with love (and paella). gracias por su amor y su apoyo. mi corazón está lleno.
blancanieves / snow white is in theaters march 21! get your tickets now.”
Seems like someone is learning to play the game after all! Will it be too late if this flick flops?
Eh, she’s young! We’re sure she’ll get more chances. Right? What do YOU think??
