Oklahoma softball run-rules Texas-Arlington

Whatever team had to face No. 2 Oklahoma after the weekend the Sooners had was almost certainly going to be in for a rough go.
Poor Texas-Arlington.
On Tuesday, Oklahoma bounced back from its first Southeastern Conference series loss by smashing UTA, 13-2. OU coach Patty Gasso had said Sunday after the Sooners dropped two of three games against now-No. 7 Tennessee, that the Sooners simply weren’t “good enough.” They were Tuesday.
OU raced to a 4-0 lead after two innings and put away the Mavericks with eight runs in fourth, plenty to force the run-rule and end things after five innings.
The Sooners sent 12 batters to the plate in the fourth. Tia Milloy, who went 3 for 3 with three RBI and three runs, started things with a single, then stole second base. Three batters later, Milloy scored on a Nelly McEnroe-Marinas single. McEnroe-Marinas and Maya Bland, who walked, came home on Chaney Helton’s three-run home run two pitches after the single. Milloy hit another RBI single between run-scoring knocks from Sydney Barker and Corri Hicks to cap the scoring.
Texas-Arlington plated its two runs in the third inning off Oklahoma starter Isabella Smith, though only one was earned. Smith left after 3 1/3 innings, allowing five hits and a walk while striking out three. Patyn Monticelli finished the final 1 2/3 for the Sooners without allowing another UTA baserunner.
In addition to Milloy’s 3-for-3 day, Gabbie Garcia also went 3 for 3 with two runs. All three of her hits were doubles.
Despite the series loss over the weekend, OU didn’t drop from its national No. 2 ranking. The Sooners have the weekend off from SEC play, instead hosting St. Thomas for a game and Central Florida for two games at Love Field on Friday and Saturday.
