One Joe Milton trade nugget Patriots fans won’t like

The New England Patriots reportedly had a better offer on the table for quarterback Joe Milton III, but according to NFL insider Jordan Schultz, the team sent him to where he wanted to be out of respect for him.

That place was with the Dallas Cowboys.

On Thursday, the Patriots shipped Milton and a seventh-round draft pick to the Cowboys in exchange for a fifth-round pick. It was a move that left some Patriots fans stunned.

Granted, fans always knew there was a chance that New England would trade Milton in the offseason, but there were expectations that the team would get more in return.

“The Patriots had a better offer for Milton but chose to send him where he wanted out of respect for him, per source,” Schultz posted on X.

Milton wasn’t a longtime Patriots veteran looking to explore other options. He was a second-year player at a premium position with multiple teams interested in his services.

The Patriots are a rebuilding football team that isn’t in a position to be passing on value ahead of one of the most important NFL drafts in franchise history.
