This Amazon Prime Day, we’re going straight to the deals that pull their weight — meaning, 15 percent off and above, minimum — and only reaching for the best kitchen- and food-related sales that we know we’ll love. One of my most neurotic particular behaviors is that I cannot stand watching people use dull knives, likely caused by the fact that my parents didn’t sharpen any of their knives a single time in 30 years and then would gaslight me and tell me that their duller-than-a-butter-knife cheapo chef’s knife was just fine even though it couldn’t cut through literally anything. I finally bought them a couple of nice Japanese knives a few years ago and now they can finally appreciate the difference. But I digress!!! I have been devoted to these pens since middle school. The way I see it, Pilot dropped the G2 gel pen in 1997 and the world was never the same. I use them for everything. NGL, when I see a nice-looking piece of furniture at this low of a price I worry that it might be garbaggio. But Loft + Ivy is actually an American home goods brand, and this console holds up to 66 pounds and has lots of thoughtful details. For that price, I don’t think you’re going to find a more attractive, sturdy MCM-style stand. —HP

I’ve always had extremely sensitive skin. I had to bring aloe vera to school in case my skin got irritated, which was a very cool thing for a girl in fifth grade. Needless to say, I’ve spent decades devoted to research on which moisturizers work for me. Sunscreens, in particular, became my latest obsession when I began chemotherapy. The sun, while beautiful and a provider of warmth, is also now my nemesis, which has impacted my fave pastime of summertime grill ‘n’ chill. My Apple Watch is my entire personality now for better or for worse

I held off a very long time in terms of becoming an Apple Watch person because I was worried it would make me feel more online and attached to me phone, but now that I have one, I’ve found that it’s actually the opposite. Now I know if I’m getting a text or call and don’t find myself peeping at my screen every time a notification from Depop comes up or an Uber Eats promo or whatever another inane entity vies for your attention. I also love tracking how active I am each day, and best of all, the Apple Watch is great for travel; just put the address into your maps app, start walking, and the watch will give you a gentle vibration when it’s time to make a turn, so you’re not stuck staring at your phone like a dingdong. I recommend just buying whichever GPS-equipped one has the biggest discount for Prime Day; you’ll want to get a more personalized band after the fact, anyway. —HP

The Oura Ring, the wearable tech half my friends won’t shut up about

I’m personally an Apple Watch wearer — those are on sale for Prime Day, too, BTW — but my sister and several other people in my social network have gotten really into the cult (not literally… I don’t think) of Oura rings. These tiny rings chill on your finger passively observing all of your daily habits and provide incredibly detailed feedback on your sleep, exercise levels, and other biomarkers, and offer such a crazy amount of data that it’s spawned an entire subculture.
