Patriots All-Pro special-teamer expected to take on bigger role

New England Patriots special teams coach Jeremy Springer admitted he wants to see First-Team All-Pro special teams standout Brenden Schooler become more of a leader in 2025.
Schooler stepped up in a major way for the Patriots last season. Not only was he one of the best special teams players in the league, but he also contributed on defense, totaling 13 tackles and two sacks.
Springer wants that maximum effort from Schooler to continue into next season and hopefully rub off on others.
“He’s lived up to the standard of the expectations he had — Pro Bowl, All-Pro,” Springer told media members. “I mean, every year he should expect that, and we should want that out of him. He gets full reins. He’s going to be the guy that we lean on. I want him to take a better leadership role this year.”
Last December, Patriots former special teams legend Matthew Slater called Schooler the best special teams player in the NFL. Schooler made a legitimate case for himself after an incredible season last year.
One has to wonder what the 2025 season has in store for him with Springer sticking around in New England and Mike Vrabel now leading the charge as head coach.
