Pinterest just released their highly anticipated annual trend report, Pinterest Predicts, for 2025, which highlights the most popular searches on the platform across different categories like fashion, beauty, and home—and we couldn’t be more excited to see what next year has in store for us design-wise.
In a press release, the company boasts that the report has an “impressive 80% accuracy rate for spotting upcoming trends.” And with over 500 million active users (meaning lots of data), we feel it’s safe to say they’ve got their finger on the pulse. Overall, the strongest theme for home design and decor is eclectic maximalism. We’re all about having fun now—sometimes with a historical touch even. Read on for more of the fascinating trends in the home space the brand predicts will take over in 2025.

Minimalist design is truly becoming a distant memory for us: According to the report, people want all the aesthetic bells and whistles—and lots of frills. And we really mean lots, because Rococo style is back. Also known as Late Baroque, the era is defined by its opulent and lavish, feminine design. Think French royalty of the 1700s, like Louis XV—a stark contrast to the minimalist mindset we’ve had since the early aughts.
What’s even more fascinating is how both Gen Z and Boomers are driving this trend, Pinterest says: Both generations are working it into different areas of their lives—from rocking classic corset gowns to luxe accessories and ornate tablescapes. Searches for the term “rococo party” have gone up 140% on the platform.

If you haven’t gotten the memo, red is having a serious moment right now. In fact, Behr even declared a daring deep ruby shade its 2025 Color of the Year. According to Pinterest, Gen Z and Millennials are really embracing the bold hue, infusing it in their makeup, outfits, and decor.
Searches for “cherry vibe” are up 325% and “cherry bedroom” is up 100%. While you can certainly drench your walls with paint in the dramatic shade, a lower-effort alternative is to sprinkle it in through small accents like pillows, rugs, or curtains.
Castlecore

Another blast from the (very distant) past: Medieval aesthetics are trending—yes, ancient castles are cool right now. Pinterest users are searching heavily for terms such as “medieval core.” In fact, “castle house plans” are up 45%.

According to Pinterest, Boomers and Gen X are warming up to sustainable living with recyclable fashion and self-sufficient gardens. Searches for the latter have increased 115%, and “chaos gardening,” which is a more natural planting method, is up 300%. And the boosted interest in eco-living is resulting in some unique sci-fi vibes. Case in point? “Solarpunk house” is up 80%.

Growing up is overrated. Or at least, Pinners think so: Searches for more youthful, funky design styles are trending on the platform. Gen Zers, in particular, are looking into painting funky murals on furniture, jazzed up millwork, and more playful spaces overall. Searches for “door murals” are up 70% and “hand painted wall patterns” are up 60%.
Modern Surrealism

There’s a clear theme here—we’re really rejecting clean, classic aesthetics and opting for more fun design! “In 2025, people will infuse their tablescapes and decor with modern surrealism,” the Pinterest report states. What does that mean? Think curvy candlesticks, fantastical flowers, and gravity-defying centerpieces. Searches for “modern surrealism” and “Salvador Dali aesthetic” have increased 70% and 40%, respectively.
