Renée Zellweger's Boyfriend Ant Anstead SWEARS Nothing Is Going On With Spin Instructor 'Friend' — He's Just Staying At Her Place!

What’s going on with Renée Zellweger and Ant Anstead? NOTHING! EVERYTHING IS FINE! IN BIG CAPITAL LETTERS! SEE???

Yeah, that’s basically the response from Ant’s rep to all the questions surrounding their suddenly shaky-looking relationship. If you didn’t see, a source told DailyMail.com they saw him spending one-on-one time at the beach with another woman. He was even seen staying overnight at her home! They identified her as his Laguna Beach neighbor Julia “Jules” French, a 36-year-old spin instructor who is — notably — currently going through a divorce.

WTF, right?! If Renée and Ant broke up, they haven’t said anything. So what’s with him hanging out with another woman?

Nothing untoward, according to his rep — who wants to assure everyone “Mr. Anstead and Ms. Zellweger are still together.” In a speedy statement on Thursday, they gave Page Six the full explanation:

“Mr. Anstead is working mostly in the UK, and he has spent some of his limited time back in [Orange County] at his friend’s home. His friend Jules has a separate, detached guest house, and the suggestion that their relationship is anything other than platonic is unacceptable and untrue.”

OK, so they’re just friends. Fine, but… the question remains… why isn’t he staying at Renée’s home?

Sure, she’s in NYC filming the new season of Only Murders In The Building. And if he’s got business in Laguna Beach, hey, that’s being a star, right? Sometimes you get stuck working on opposite coasts. We just mean… Renée moved specifically to be close to him, right? And then we heard they moved in together. But now they’re living separately? That’s not a good sign, right?

Actually they apparently never did move in together! Those reports in 2023 that they’d found a house together were erroneous! Or at least, they never fully pulled that trigger? Another source told DailyMail.com on Thursday that even after four years together, Renée just wasn’t ready to take that step:

“Renée currently has a rental in Laguna. When Ant lost his rental, the obvious thing would have been for him to move into the rental with Renée. But she doesn’t want them cohabiting, so he has to find his own place to stay. That’s kind of how the relationship works.”

Huh. OK. Inneresting. So this really is just Ant staying with a pal??

Yep, the source close to Ant says he moved out of his small Laguna Beach rental in April and started staying with Jules. Apparently, it was a natural fit because she was already watching his son Hudson sometimes:

“One of her kids goes to the same school as Hudson. When Ant’s working late or needs childcare, Hudson goes back with Jules’ kids. Then in the evening Ant picks Hudson up.”

OK, so they’re parenting pals? And everything is above board — or above room-and-board, we should say — just like his rep said? The source explained:

“They’ve had this flirtatious friendship going on. So when he moved out of [his two-bed rental], he moved into the apartment above the garage at Jules’ place. He’s trying to find another rental place. But for now, he’s got stuff in storage and he’s got a lot of stuff with Jules.”

Well, that does sound totally reasonable, though we’d be wary of that “flirtatious friendship” comment. Actually, the rep does quibble with that part of the story, telling Page Six:

“The suggestion that Mr. Anstead is flirtatious is not true and is disrespectful to his four-year relationship.”

Hey, fair enough.

So, uh… How would YOU feel if your boyfriend of four years was staying at another woman’s home? Because they’re really making it sound like Renée is just fine with it. And if she is… that’s pretty darn secure of her in our opinion!
