Reporters Apologize After Cutting Off Babyface's Grammys Interview For Chappell Roan — And Khloé Kardashian Says What We're All Thinking!
This was just beyond rude!
During the Grammys red carpet Sunday night, two reporters for Associated Press — Leslie Ambriz and Krysta Fauria — were interviewing Babyface about his legendary career in music. Or, they were, until they saw Chappell Roan pass by and completely cut him off. Seriously, they took the mic from him and everything! WTF!
See the moment for yourself (below):
Can’t believe @AP disrespected Babyface like that smh. ???????? #GRAMMYs pic.twitter.com/iuSuCkc2Id

Seriously, in what world is that acceptable? Especially at such a prestigious event like the Grammys — with such a legendary interviewee! Not to mention, this is exactly the kind of behavior Chappell herself takes every chance she gets to call out. The Pink Pony Club artist was even standing out of the way until one of the reporters cut off the record producer mid-sentence to yell at her.
Khloé Kardashian had words for the entire situation and her response pretty much sums up what we’re all thinking. On X (Twitter), she wrote:
“This is so disrespectful how Babyface was treated in this interview. Babyface has had such a significant impact on the music industry, in sooo many ways. It’s maddening to see a LEGEND not get the respect and attention they deserve. He is a pioneer and deserves so much better than this. With decades of groundbreaking work as a songwriter, producer, and performer, he’s shaped the sound of multiple generations. I love you @babyface And I am a forever fan and thankful for all that you have blessed us with By the way- what a class act you are”
The reality TV star wrapped up her post by saying we should all be treating each other equally:
“PS big or small, old or new, – you don’t treat people like this. At least not in my eyes. There’s a way to handle this and this was wrong in my opinion”
Preach!

Now, after they were called out, the reporters did issue an apology. At the end of the livestream, Krysta — who was the one who called Chappell over — responded to the viral moment:
“First I wanted to say that I’m really sorry about interrupting Babyface earlier. Chappell Roan had come up and there was a lot of commotion as there is on these carpets. I’m a big Babyface fan as are we all, so I just wanted to say that.”

AP themselves later released a statement on the app as well, apologizing for the incident:
“We are deeply sorry for cutting our interview with Babyface short on our YouTube livestream of the Grammys red carpet. We have apologized to him through his representative and to our viewers on the livestream.”

Fans are still pretty upset about the whole ordeal, rightfully so, but it seems like Babyface is taking it in stride. The singer-songwriter, whose real name is Kenneth Edmonds, shared a statement with People. He said:
“The best part of the night was reconnecting with old friends, meeting new artists and feeling all the love in the room. That’s what I’ll remember. That’s what it’s really about. Music is bigger than any one moment. Much love to everyone who won and everyone out here making great music.”
A true class act, just like Koko said! This should’ve never happened in the first place, but what an amazing response.
