“I have a new record coming out this year. I hope it doesn’t suck,” country star quips Friday before performing new song
Zach Bryan continues to preview new music from his upcoming album on the road as he debuted “28” Friday during his concert in Oakland, California.
“Like I said, I have a new record coming out this year. I hope it doesn’t suck. This is a song called ’28.’ I hope you don’t hate it,” Bryan said before playing the new track.
“Me and all the guys one time were bowling in New York City and I looked at all my best friends in the entire world and I realized how lucky I was to be in that exact moment, and I wrote this song about being content.”
Friday’s concert at the Oakland Coliseum also featured the live debut of “Pink Skies,” the new track Bryan released last week that’s been heralded as the first single from his upcoming album:
Like Bryan’s “Sandpaper” — which journeyed from social media snippets to an in-concert debut to an unlikely onstage Bruce Springsteen collaboration — “28” was also previously teased in embryonic forms on the singer’s social, with Bryan sharing piano versions of the track in recent months before its big full-band debut Friday night.
The prolific Bryan has spent much of 2024 road-testing some new tracks on his Quittin Time tour, including the now-staples “The Great American Bar Scene” and “Better Days,” both of which debuted when the trek kicked off in Chicago.
