Popular Apple Juice Recalled Due to Potential Mold Contamination

Apple juice fans, check your pantry and your fridge: Martinelli’s apple juice has been recalled due to potential mold contamination.

The recall impacts 7,234 cases of Martinelli’s four packs of 10-ounce bottles of apple juice, which are packaged in round glass bottles. They may have been contaminated with patulin, which is a mycotoxin created by rotting, moldy apples. It’s considered genotoxic, which means it can damage DNA, and it can cause vomiting and diarrhea.

The affected products will be marked with the UPC code: 0 41244 04102 2 and the Best By Date 05DEC2026. They were distributed in the following states:

S. Martinelli & Company initially recalled the product on March 18, 2025, but the FDA recently upgraded the recall to a Class II recall, which is the second most severe type of recall, meant for products that can cause “temporary” or “reversible” health consequences.
