‘Stranger Things’ Season 5 Release Date Announced

It has been three long years since fans last turned Upside Down with new episodes of “Stranger Things,” but during Tudum 2025: The Live Event, Netflix has finally revealed the fifth and final season will drop in two parts, with Vol. 1 releasing on Wednesday, November 26 and Vol. 2 hitting the streamer on Christmas Day. The series finale will debut on New Year’s Eve.

Star Finn Wolfhard told IndieWire in April that while he could not tease much “without them killing me,” wrapping production was “bittersweet.”

“It was super emotional, but we’re all unbelievably happy with the finished product,” Wolfhard said. “We just can’t believe it’s over, but we can’t wait until people see it.”

In January at Next on Netflix, the Duffer Brothers previewed footage from the finale season, with Ross Duffer calling it the “biggest and most ambitious” yet.

“It’s like eight blockbuster movies,” he added.

Season 4 villain Vecna’s portrayer Jamie Campbell Bower teased in an interview on iHeart Radio’s “I’ve Never Said This Before With Tommy DiDario” that the latest outing is “bigger” and “completely insane.”

“If you thought last season was nuts, this season is just out of control, wild, like, it’s bonkers. It really, really is,” Bowers said.

“At the same time, we think it’s our most personal story,” Matt Duffer said in January. “It was super intense and emotional to film — for us and for our actors.”

Like Wolfhard, Matt, too, characterized the last lap as emotional.

“There was so much crying. The show means so much to all of us, and everyone put their hearts and souls into it. And we hope — and believe — that passion will translate to the screen,” Matt said.

Information regarding the fifth season has been trickling out with a steady drip, drip, drip since the Season 4 finale in July 2022. The episode titles were even revealed all the way back in November.

Those titles are: “The Crawl,” “The Vanishing Of…,” “The Turnbow Trap,” “Sorcerer,” “Shock Jock,” “Escape from Camazotz,” “The Bridge,” and the series finale of “The Rightside Up.”

Vol. 1 of “Stranger Things 5” debuts on Friday, November 26, with Vol. 2 streaming on Christmas Day and the series finale streaming on New Year’s Eve.
