“Coastal chic is considered a trend, but I still think it’s a classic,” certified personal stylist Dianne Boyer tells Real Simple. Imagine a pair of versatile, wide-leg white sailor pants that will elevate any simple blouse to a refined and sophisticated look. Even better, you can wear these from summer well into fall. Just swap your lightweight layers for warmer fabrics.

One of the biggest and unexpected trends this year is the classic flip-flop. They’re adaptable enough to pair with “everything from shorts to pretty dresses,” says Shana Draugelis, founder and CEO of The Mom Edit. Really, anything goes in this department, so long as you love them and they feel comfy. However, you can’t go wrong with a sleek pair of flip-flops with thin, neutral straps.

Boxy Linen Top

“With rises all over the place, I sometimes can’t decide if I should tuck in my top or not,” Draugelis notes. Forget overthinking your outfit and opt for a standard, boxy linen top instead. It will pair well with a multitude of bottoms, whether you team it with shorts, high-rise jeans, or Bermuda shorts.

It’s time to tuck away the clean white sneakers you love so much and go for a pair of vibrant sneakers instead, according to Draugelis. “I’ve been turning to colorful, vintage-inspired sneakers more and more,” she confesses.
