Emma Seligman‘s wild, gonzo, R-rated lesbian comedy “Bottoms” is finally available to stream on Prime Video.

The film, which first premiered at SXSW Film Festival before releasing in theaters in August, stars Rachel Sennott (“Bodies, Bodies, Bodies”) and Ayo Edebiri (“The Bear”) as high schoolers who decide to form a girls’ fight club — technically, a self-defense club — in order to convince the two hottest cheerleaders in school to sleep with them.

Upon its festival debut, the satirical comedy received several favorable reviews, with Variety chief film critic Owen Gleiberman writing that the comedy “has a teasing humanity that sneaks up on you.” Gleiberman also compared the movie to pieces of seminal queer cinema, including Jamie Babbit’s 1999 teen satire “But I’m a Cheerleader.”

“I just miss that genre,” Seligman told Variety ahead of its theatrical release. “I miss over-the-top high school movies…I just wanted to bring it back. And part of bringing it back for me is making it queer and female driven. But to me that doesn’t change the genre, it just is our version of it.”

Seligman co-wrote the screenplay with Sennott, who starred in the filmmaker’s 2020 indie hit “Shiva Baby.” Also featured in the film are Havana Rose Liu, Kaia Gerber, Nicholas Galitzine, Dagmara Dominczyk and Marshawn Lynch.

Edebiri, in particular, has had a breakout year since the film’s release, earning her first Emmy win last month for her adored role in “The Bear.” Sennott, who was honored at Variety’s Power of Young Hollywood Event last August, most recently starred in Saverio Costanzo’s “Finally Dawn.”
