Let me let you in on a secret: I’m not just a shopping writer, I’m also an interior designer and a tastemaker who has curated home decor and furniture picks at some of the country’s biggest home magazines over the years. So when it comes to shopping for essentials (and flourishes!) for the home, I’m very picky about what I buy.
Now that we’re in peak patio season, if you’re looking around at your outdoor space thinking “this really needs a makeover,” I’ve got you covered. While I’m a big proponent of shopping locally for unique home goods, of course, I do believe that you can find beautiful, quality pieces online on a budget at Amazon—so long as you factor in things like the materials they’re made with and reviews from real customers.
I scoured Amazon to curate a list of outdoor patio furniture and decor finds that are actually worth it and even included a few of my personal favorites that I use in my own home. Everything on my list is top-rated and under $150, and prices start as low as just $16.

Sunnyglade 9-Foot Solar LED Lighted Patio Umbrella
Amazon
If you are someone who likes to entertain on your patio and you need to provide shade, an umbrella that comes equipped with solar LED lighting like this is basically a non-negotiable in my professional opinion. Not only will it provide some solace from the hot summer sun, but it also ensures that the party doesn’t have to stop when the sun goes down, too. This particular umbrella has eight ribs, each outfitted with three LED lights that can run for up to six hours on a full battery. It has a crank system to close the umbrella to keep it safe during inclement weather, and it can tilt with just a simple press of a button for the perfect angle of shade you need. The umbrella fabric is polyester that is both water-repellent and fade-resistant to help it last as long as possible, and it comes in nearly a dozen colors—I’m partial to this striking dark green.

Having a small outdoor space doesn’t have to limit you, because there are so many clever products out there to help you make the most of even a tiny balcony. I’m a huge fan of this hanging, fold-down half-table from Safavieh, for instance. It’s made from beautiful natural teak wood and simply attaches to your balcony railing to provide you with a surface to set down your coffee and a book, your laptop, or even enjoy a meal al fresco. It can be folded down when not in use so you can freely move about your balcony without it in the way. And if you don’t need it at all, the table easily detaches from the railing. Pair it with a couple of small-space friendly outdoor lounge chairs for a truly cozy vibe.
Fab Habitat 4-by-6-Foot Reversible Waterproof Outdoor Rug
Amazon
Outdoor rugs so often lack contemporary designs, and expansive color options are expensive. And many of them—despite being designed for outdoor use—remain wet for a while after the rain. For my own outdoor space, I took a chance on this reversible rug from Fab Habitat, a NJ-based family-owned brand that is all about sustainable home products, and I have to say, I’m impressed. The rug is made from recycled plastic tubes for an outdoor area rug that is totally waterproof and dries off quickly in the sun. The rugs come in sizes from 2-by-3 feet all the way up to 8-by-10 feet, so you can find the perfect fit for most patios and balconies. Plus, they’re available in a whopping 28 different colors and patterns, including neutral styles as well as bold, bright color variations. I personally have the green and pink Lhasa style, and I’m thrilled with how beautiful the color and pattern is in person (and how easy it is to maintain).
My list doesn’t end here. Keep scrolling for more of my outdoor patio recs, including must-haves like solar lighting, vibey outdoor curtains and privacy screens, a gorgeous wicker egg chair that you can snag for under $150, and the same waterproof rechargeable table lamps I use on my own balcony that are only $14 apiece. There’s even a set of funky, wavy-shaped plant hangers that can be used indoors and out—and just so happen to be a staple in my home.
