There’s a trend we’ve been seeing everywhere lately, and it promises to have serious staying power: curvy furniture! These rounded pieces feel of-the-moment and also timeless, and work well in a range of home styles and layouts. In fact, they can even fit nicely into awkward nooks that you don’t know what to do with. To get the lowdown on this trend and how to implement it into your own space, we spoke to some of our favorite designers from this year’s REAL SIMPLE Home.
Mix Curved and Angular Furniture
“I’ve always been a big fan of furniture with curves and organic shapes,” says designer and DIYer Drew Michael Scott. “There’s something about the way it flows into a space—less rigid, more adaptable to how you live and move within a room. It can even inspire you to play with layouts you might not usually consider!” He suggests starting by incorporating smaller pieces like a nightstand, sideboard, or dresser if you’re new to the trend. “The key is balance—you don’t want everything to be curved. Mixing in more structured, angular pieces helps ground the look and keeps the space feeling cohesive.”
Add Curvy Pieces in a Kid’s Room
“I absolutely love implementing pieces with curves,” says Chicago-based designer Candace Griffin. “Curves are a simple way to add character to and soften any space. Often, we’re implementing pieces with a lot of straight lines and curves that help create a focal point as well as visual interest. I also love using curved pieces in kids’ rooms and common spaces because you’re less likely to bump into corners, and it maximizes the flow of the room!”

“Curved furniture is an ideal way to add a sense of movement into the home,” says N.Y.C.-based home stager Jason Saft. “By adding in pieces that break free from the monotony of squares and rectangles, it can add a much-needed dose of drama into a room.” He says that rounded sofas are ideal for rooms with curved lines; they will naturally fill the space and appear to be built into it. “A good rule of thumb is to add a rounded coffee table to naturally pair with the sofa. It creates a harmony between the two pieces, as the rounded coffee table easily fits into the curve of the sofa. I love using a rounded sofa in a bay window to create this cozy feeling.”
Introduce Curved Furniture for Better Conversation
Griffin also says that curved pieces are great for conversation areas. “They make a space feel more organic and inviting,” she explains. “Adding curved pieces to your home is easier than you think; even just a few pieces, such as a coffee table, rug, or swivel chair, can change the vibe!” For an affordable way to try the trend, consider mixing in curved throw pillows, ottomans, or other home accents.
