KitchenAid Just Announced Its 2025 Color of the Year

Our ideas of dream kitchens often change over the years as styles and trends shift. However, there’s one element that remains steady on almost all of our ideal kitchen checklists: the KitchenAid mixer. Whether you dream of whipping up delicious baked goods or making homemade pasta, the KitchenAid mixer is a do-it-all appliance, and the design looks perfectly at home in both modern and retro spaces. Part of what makes this particular appliance so sought after is its bold, rich color finishes and the range of options to choose from. While some shades will always be classic—like the popular Empire Red, and the vintage-inspired Aqua Sky—KitchenAid just announced its 2025 Color of the Year to reflect current color trends.

The brand’s 2025 Color of the Year is Butter, a soft-yet-energizing yellow with a creamy, satin finish. And considering butter yellow has been all the rage in both fashion and home trends in recent years, we feel this color choice is right on the mark. “Our team saw yellow continually pop up, and knowing we wanted to tap into comfort and nostalgia, this felt like the perfect marriage of all those elements,” Brittni Pertijs, lead color, material & finish designer for KitchenAid said in an interview for KitchenAid.

Pertijs also said that the choosing Butter as the “it” color for 2025 was also about evoking warm memories and tapping into nostalgia and comfort, since the color is reminiscent of vintage kitchens of the 1950s and 1960s. To curate the exact right shade of yellow for today, Pertijs said the team at KitchenAid looked at a number of yellow samples and objects, one of which happened to be a vintage butter knife found in an antique shop.

The KitchenAid Artisan Stand Mixer in Butter is available now exclusively at Williams Sonoma—and you don’t have to have a yellow-themed kitchen to make it fit in on your countertops. The butter yellow shade pairs well with natural wood accents or other soft shades, like light blue and sage green. You can even go for the more unexpected combo and pair the yellow appliance with accents of red—another major trending color in design at the moment.
