It was announced that Daniel, who plays firefighter Darren Ritter, will be exiting the show at the end of the current 13th season alongside another fan-favorite actor.
Daniel joined the show in season 7 and was made a series regular in season 9. His final episode will be the May 21 season finale.

After the news of his exit was made public, Daniel shared the scoop on his Instagram Stories. He wrote, “I’ll miss this character, and it’s time to move on… Thank you to the cast, crew, & the awesome fans.”
The exit is reportedly due to budget cuts, which could also lead to the NBC show getting fewer episodes for season 14.
