Good Threads Revolutionizes The Urban Wardrobe

In a groundbreaking collaboration Anak, in partnership with Mandai Wildlife Group, launches Good Threads. This innovative collection of performance wear, designed specifically for navigating the challenges of the urban jungle, marks a significant stride towards sustainable innovation within the fashion industry. Good Threads epitomizes purpose-driven design, redefining relationships between fashion production and sustainable processes.

Anak is a global brand practice named after the word for “child” in several Southeast Asian languages, focused on designing brands and products to inspire future generations. Committed to creating a better world, Anak serves as a hub for creators, clients, and partners dedicated to positively shaping our collective future.

The Good Threads collection comprises four key pieces that include the Tote-Shorts, Takeaway Shirt, Bucket-Bag Hat, and Trashy Pants. Each item is uniquely crafted to optimize wardrobes for new behaviors and positive change while blending style with sustainability. Crafted from 100% salvaged fabrics sourced from local thrift stores and community textile collection drives, the collection minimizes waste and maximizes impact through upcycling and recycling practices.

The smallest details, from buttons to clasps, are thoughtfully sourced from post-consumer plastic in collaboration with Plastify, a community-based recycling studio. Each piece is a limited production run and is hand-crafted by Singaporean designer Hakim Samat ( also known as Unusual Felines).

“Our journey began with rethinking traditional fashion paradigms – does a shirt have to be a shirt?” questions Lee Hanyi, Creative Partner, Anak. “Can it do more than just look good? We have performance wear for mountains, deserts, rivers, and forests, but not the urban jungle – the one environment more than half of the world’s population inhabits. In designing for action, we wanted to go above and beyond creating eco-sourced clothes, to kickstart behavioural change.”

He continues, “Each piece in the Good Threads collection is designed to tackle a specific challenge in everyday life: eating sustainably, shopping sustainably, recycling consistently, and minimizing consumption. With this, we hope to create new possibilities for what clothes can do: not just change the way you look, but change the way you act.”

Good Threads embodies a commitment to sustainability and innovation, from its cutting-edge materials to forward-thinking design. Each garment is meticulously crafted to create a more sustainable future, empowering individuals to make conscious choices seamlessly integrated into their daily lives. Recognizing the obstacles posed by urban living to sustainable practices, Good Threads emerges as a solution tailored to the demands of city life.

Good Threads is a limited edition performance wear collection designed for urban living, created by Mandai Wildlife Group in partnership with Anak. The collection is crafted from 100% salvaged fabrics and recycled plastics, offering durable and innovative clothing options that are forget-proof, lazy-resistant, spontaneity-tested, and future-fit. Each piece is designed to handle the challenges of daily city life while promoting sustainable fashion choices. All proceeds from the sales of this collection will support wildlife conservation efforts in Singapore and Southeast Asia.

“In the hustle and bustle of daily life, mindful actions like recycling and using fewer single-use plastics may inadvertently take a backseat sometimes, despite our best intentions. Good Threads sows the idea that daily consumption habits that are thoughtful of the planet can be effortless, and in this instance, even fashionable. Through personal choices, each of us can reap a more sustainable lifestyle. Manifest and multiply a personal mantra such as this, and we can fashion change together,” expressed Suzanne Ho, Senior Vice President of brand & communications at Mandai Wildlife Group.

She adds in her statement, “Fashion is much loved by many. More than a style preference, it’s a personal statement and an identity. It can wield power to influence how we think about clothing and perhaps reconsider the need to consume wave after wave of clothes and fashion accessories.”

Good Threads extends Mandai Wildlife Group’s Choose Good with Mandai campaign, emphasizing the collective responsibility to protect nature and wildlife through conscious choices. The aim is to inspire eco-conscious choices through effortless, fashionable solutions, with all proceeds from sales supporting wildlife conservation efforts in Singapore and Southeast Asia.
