OneRepublic Frontman Ryan Tedder Blasts The Anti-Trump Protests… Ick!

It turns out OneRepublic frontman Ryan Tedder isn’t all that into protecting our actual republic.

The Counting Stars singer took to Instagram this week to share his thoughts on the No Kings protests — the anti-Donald Trump protests that erupted across the country on Saturday. The protests — which reportedly saw over 5 MILLION people gathering in cities all over the country — were scheduled on the controversial President’s 79th birthday. That’s likely no accident considering Trump was using the 250th anniversary of the US Army to justify throwing himself a military parade like the authoritarian strongman leaders he admires.

Ryan didn’t come out and say he was Team Trump here — but he made very clear he was AGAINST the No Kings protests! He disapprovingly wrote on his Story on Monday:

“I have around 20 family members & grandparents that all fought in wars from the revolutionary war (actually) thru to WWII / Korea. All politics & parties and righteous indignation aside it’s a super bummer that instead of celebrating the 250th anniversary of the US ARMY and all those who have fought and died on our behalf… We’re protesting.”

Yes. It’s a bummer there’s a president in office that inspires this kind of protest. It’s a huge bummer there’s a US president who has proven to be so corrupt and self-serving that he can’t be trusted with an army.

But obviously that wasn’t what Tedder meant. He’s annoyed anyone is protesting instead of just telling service men and women thank you. He continued:

“I haven’t been a card carrying political member of either side for over 20 years & think at this point everything is absurd 99% of the time… But I’d like to say THANKYOU to all of the Army service members active and retired and those who have given their lives to protect our freedom… to protest.”

Yeesh. It sounds like what people are protesting isn’t a concern to Ryan at all… Weird, you’d think with so many family members who fought in wars, you’d appreciate using the rights they fought for — and not giving into someone who wants to take them away. Huh.
