Michelle Trachtenberg 'Knew Death Was A High Possibility’ In Months Before Passing, Says Friend

Oh, this is so sad.
In a loving tribute to Michelle Trachtenberg after her untimely passing on Wednesday, her friend, photographer Amanda de Cadenet, revealed that the Buffy the Vampire Slayer star was well aware she might die amid health issues. Oof.

Amanda took to Instagram on Wednesday in a since-deleted post to share a throwback portrait of the actress wearing a strapless pink dress, writing:
“Sweetheart Michelle. What sad news this morning to wake up to. It feels weird and awful to be posting this, but I want to acknowledge your death because I cared about you. I’m grateful we got to connect ,especially in the last few months. I will always remember you as the young vivacious woman I met when I took this photo of you … Wishing you a peaceful transition sweet friend and may your spirit finally rest.”
She also recalled her final conversations with the 39-year-old performer during a recent hospitalization, sharing:
“Seeing your face from the hospital bed when we FaceTimed recently, even though you did not look like you, your sweetness and humor were still alive.”
The photographer went on to acknowledge that Michelle knew how dire her situation was, adding:
“I will not share the details of our conversations over the last 6 months, but you knew that death was a high possibility and I am only sorry that the outcome was not a better one.”
Aren’t we all…
It’s so sad to know Michelle was having a hard time with her health for at least “6 months.” Such a long time to be struggling.
As we’ve covered, the Gossip Girl alum was found dead in her NYC apartment on Wednesday morning. Per ABC News sources, she recently underwent a liver transplant and may have been suffering from complications. Per the New York Post, officers responded to a 911 call reporting a possible cardiac arrest.
Other sources told People that the Harriet the Spy lead “told friends she was struggling” and “was really, really sick” amid persistent “health issues.” Just about a week before her death, she was seen at her regular spot Sartiano’s restaurant in SoHo where she was so “unwell” she “couldn’t walk down the stairs,” an employee told DailyMail.com. Heartbreaking.
Our hearts go out to all those mourning this tremendous loss. May she rest in peace.
