Real Madrid Target Mbappe And Luis Enrique’s Relationship ‘Broken’

The relationship between Real Madrid target Kylian Mbappe and his head coach at Paris Saint-Germain, Luis Enrique, is “absolutely broken” according to OK Diario director Eduardo Inda.

Mbappe becomes a free agent on June 30, and looks set to join Los Blancos for nothing in what would be one of the biggest transfers in football this century.

Already in 2024, Footmercato and Le Parisien have both reported that the Russia 2018 World Cup winner has agreed terms with the La Liga giants.

As always, Qatar-backed PSG can offer Mbappe far more money than he could make at the Bernabeu, but the likelihood of winning the Champions League in the Spanish capital is increased alongside the chance of getting his hands on the sport’s highest indvidual accolade, the Ballon d’Or.

If claims from Inda are true, another factor that won’t help convince Mbappe to stay at the Parc des Princes is his relationship with former FC Barcelona and Spain boss Luis Enrique. According to Inda, it is “absolutely broken” because of a tactical dispute.

“He doesn’t want to play as a centre-forward, he doesn’t like to be called a ‘9’ and he wants to play as an ’11’, which is the position in which he has played the most in his career,” Inda explained during a Monday night experience on El Chiringuito de Jugones.

“That’s what I’m saying: if he comes to Real Madrid he won’t come demanding what position he plays, but he would like to do it as an ’11’ and that would cause a mess with the player who plays there, who is Vincius,” added India.

“But the relationship with Luis Enrique is absolutely broken,” he then concluded.

Mbappe currently plays as the central striker in a 4-3-3 for his Ligue 1 employers. At Madrid, though, it is likely that Endrick will adopt that role as a side that currently fields two wingers – Vinicius Jr. and Rodrygo – up front.

Los Blancos head coach Carlo Ancelotti could also rejig to a 4-3-3, and as Inda suggested, Mbappe would probably prefer to play on the left wing which could spark Vinicius Jr’s exit.
