The Bone Temple’ Set for 2026 Release
The Bone Temple will hit theaters in 2026
The 28 Days Later madness continues. The 2002 zombie thriller’s long-awaited second sequel, 28 Years Later, isn’t out in theaters until June 2025, but the sequel to that forthcoming film already has its own release date: 28 Years Later II: The Bone Temple will arrive in January 2026.
Directed by Nia DeCosta, The Bone Temple screenplay was written by Alex Garland, who wrote the initial movie’s screenplay as well. Meanwhile, Danny Boyle, the original film and 28 Years Later director will act as producer for The Bone Temple. Cillian Murphy, who was largely unknown when he starred in the original 2002 movie, will be an executive producer.
Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Jodie Comer and Ralph Fiennes will star in the film, which was shot back to back with its predecessor.
When 28 Years Later was announced back in May, it was revealed that the movie would act as the first installment of a new trilogy. This next chapter takes place in a strict quarantine three decades after the pandemic that ravaged the world in the 2002 film.
According to the official film synopsis: “One such group of survivors lives on a small island connected to the mainland by a single, heavily-defended causeway. When one of the group leaves the island on a mission into the dark heart of the mainland, he discovers secrets, wonders, and horrors that have mutated not only the infected but other survivors as well.” The Bone Temple will build upon this premise.
