The Only Good Indoor Pizza Oven Is Almost $200 Off for Cyber Monday
When it comes to making pizza at home, I’m lucky. I have plenty of space in my backyard to set up a wood-fired oven that cranks over 900 degrees and turns out blistered crusts in just a couple minutes. I’ve tested Oonis, Gozneys, and right now I’m using a generously-sized Breeo that I love (and is also on sale right now). But a backyard you can set up a raging fire in is a luxury not everyone has. That’s why there are so many indoor pizza ovens that have hit the market in the last year or two. But I’ve gotten a look at several of them and they almost all fall well short of their outdoor counterparts. Most just struggle to get hot enough to perform that well. That is not the case, however, for the Ooni Volt.
Ooni is probably the biggest name in home pizza ovens at this point and their outdoor equipment stands out atop a lot of pizza oven reviews. It’s their indoor oven though, released last year, that truly sets itself apart from everything else in its category. We had one in the test kitchen and cranked it up as high as it would go to see if it could come close to the heat of an outdoor oven. Lo and behold it came through. Hitting close 850℉ it was hotter than any other countertop appliance we’ve ever tried, and the pizzas it put out were immaculate.
It can cook at lower temperatures to bake bread or roast vegetables, can hit its max temperature in as little as 20 minutes, and it has a toggle to adjust heat between the top and bottom heating elements so you can get a blistered pizza bottom while avoiding a burned pizza top.
Most impressive about the Ooni? It didn’t feel dangerously hot while we were using it. There are understandable reasons not to want a box on the counter that’s over 800℉. But the Ooni is well-insulated, and, while you don’t want to pick it up while it’s on, it wasn’t uncomfortable to have it opposite the counter where we were assembling the pizzas.
Today, for Cyber Monday Ooni’s volt is $160 off (most everything Ooni is 20% off today, actually, so now’s a great opportunity to jump into a gas or wood-burning model too). And if you’ve been dreaming of making neapolitan pizza, but don’t have the space for it, this is the deal to get.
