I’ll be honest, I’ve always been a bit skeptical of sleep trackers to promote better sleep habits, especially when they come at a lofty price tag. But after receiving the Oura Ring Gen 3 six months ago (the model 4 wasn’t out yet), I finally understand what the hype is all about. And right now, it’s at the lowest price it’s been in 30 days on Amazon, starting at $279.
The Oura ring is much more than a sleep tracker, it’s an everyday reminder to start winding down at a reasonable hour, to put my screens away earlier, and to follow a schedule that works best for my body. I’ve come to love waking up to see my “sleep score” and learning how I can improve it more than the day before. The smart ring has truly transformed my sleep experience. And I’m not alone either, it was just awarded one of Real Simple’s 2025 smart sleep award winners for favorite bedtime products.

With the handy Oura app, I can see my health stats in real time on my iPhone, including my stress levels and my body temperature. And as for sleep, I can view a timeline of my entire night. The app shows how many hours I spent in my bed, and how many of those hours I was actually asleep. It breaks down your stats by the minute, showing when I was awake and when I was in light, deep, or REM sleep. I can even check my oxygen levels throughout the night and my chronotype, aka my optimal sleep schedule.
All of those features come together to provide me with my overall sleep score and a “readiness” score that measures how ready I am to take on the day. This scoring looks at indicators like body temperature, resting heart rate, and my respiratory rate. This has been an especially helpful feature this winter, as the Oura ring had indicated that I was showing signs of illness before I even realized I was sick. Completely unaware, my body temperature was elevated, and I was sleeping much, much more than usual.
You might think it’s uncomfortable to wear a ring to bed every single night, but the truth is I forget it’s even there. The ring is made with lightweight titanium that’s durable and water resistant, so I can wear it in the shower, at the gym, and everywhere else. Not to mention, the ring can last up to a week without needing to be re-charged, but I usually only go a few days before giving it some juice.
I’m also a huge fan of the ring’s fitness-tracking capabilities. It provides me with a daily activity goal and scores me based on the amount of steps I’ve taken and calories I’ve burned. It also shows me a timeline of movement by the hour, so I can see when I was most and least active. This visual reminder makes me want to improve every day—like I’m in competition with myself—which is pretty amazing.
The ring comes in seven colors, including silver, gold, and black. I have the rose gold that turns bronze over time, which I love. The sleek metal has a gorgeous sheen, and it surprisingly goes with every outfit I wear—no matter the occasion. Think of it as another chunky ring accessory you’d find at your favorite jewelry brand.
Because Oura rings are not designed to standard ring sizes, I recommend purchasing the sizing kit to find your perfect Oura ring fit. After being worn for 24 hours, the tester ring’s data and sensors will determine your best Oura ring size; mine turned out to be larger than the ring size I typically wear.
If you’ve been thinking about getting an Oura ring, consider this your sign to add it to your cart. It’s well worth the investment. And if you want to check out some other options, continue scrolling to see some more sleep and fitness trackers available at Amazon.
