Whether you’re painting an entire room, creating an accent wall, or giving cabinets or furniture a refresh, paint is the easiest (and least expensive) way to create a wow-worthy “before and after.” As we head into warmer weather, it only makes sense to reach for a spring-appropriate paint color that feels modern and fresh. For some inspiration on what hues to pick, we asked interior designers about the spring paint colors they’re loving right now that’ll endure well beyond the season.
Benjamin Moore ‘Aganthus Green’

When you want a soft green that isn’t as warm as sage but isn’t as bright as lime, turn to Aganthus Green. “It’s a soft celadon with a hint of grey, which gives it some real depth while still feeling fresh,” says Melanie Bryant, a Mississippi-based interior designer. “It also pairs well with warm whites, soft pinks, and shifts well into the cooler seasons, too.”
Sherwin Williams ‘Redend Point’

Warm, cozy colors are a major trend this spring and are likely to remain a go-to for a while. Redend Point is a beautiful, muted terracotta that captures that aesthetic whether you’re repainting a bedroom, bathroom, den, or beyond. “It really makes a space feel warm and cozy without feeling dark or overbearing,” says Laura Botelho, an interior designer based in Texas. “This color pairs beautifully with light color woods and caning, along with sage greens and beiges.”
Benjamin Moore ‘Yarmouth Blue’

If you prefer a cooler spring paint color over some of the warm hues listed here, Benjamin Moore’s Yarmouth Blue is a perfect pick. “It’s a light and airy blue that feels refreshing without being overpowering,” notes Liz Williams, an Atlanta-Georgia based interior designer. “It blends effortlessly with neutrals and complements a wide range of other colors, making it a versatile and cheerful pick for spring.”
Farrow & Ball ‘Yellow Ground’

Buttery yellow hues have sprung up in a big way this season, and the creamy, soft color is a total mood booster. Bryant is partial to Farrow & Ball’s Yellow Ground. “It’s a rich, cheerful color that just draws you in like a bright smile or a warm hug,” she says. “Where to put it? “This would work so well in a room where you want a good energy, like a laundry room, a sunroom, or even kitchen walls.”
Sherwin Williams ‘Unfussy Beige’

Unfussy Beige is a neutral, pink-leaning brown that isn’t too obviously pink or too “boring.” “I love using this color in home offices, gyms or secondary bedrooms,” Botelho says. “This color is bright, inviting and also pairs nicely with light or dark woods.” She also recommends pairing it with brass metal finishes and black furniture for a chic, bold look.
Sherwin Williams ‘Silver Peony’

Another gorgeous spring paint color to try is Silver Peony by Sherwin Williams, a pale, dimensional purple with warm undertones. “It’s a clean, soft violet that has an incredible calming effect,” Bryant says. “It’s just a wisp of color, so it works well as a mostly neutral background color in bedrooms or bathrooms.” She says her team has used this on bedroom walls, and that it’s fantastic for layering colorful textiles and different wood tones.
Sherwin Williams ‘Dried Thyme’

Green is a natural pick for springtime, beloved for its earthy, verdant qualities and soothing effect. But what shade of green to pick? Botelho says one of her go-toes is a soft sage. “For me, ‘Dried Thyme’ is the perfect sage color. It’s not too dark, but not too light and it can make a room feel moody without feeling heavy,” she says. “This color pairs beautifully with light warm beiges, cognac leathers, light or medium woods, rattans, terra cottas and even soft pinks for a beautiful baby nursery.”
