The Studio’s Seth Rogen on Ron Howard’s Emmy-Nominated Cameo

Ron Howard has a beautiful mind—and a scary dark side.

During his guest appearance playing himself on The Studio—for which he’s earned a 2025 Emmy nomination—Ron’s ire, however fictional, caught even star and co-creator Seth Rogen by surprise. (See all the nominations here.)

“I honestly was amazed at how angry he seemed,” Seth previously told E! News during an exclusive interview alongside his castmates. “He was like, ‘I think I throw the hat at your face.’”

And indeed, Ron did. Many times.

“He hit me in the f–king head with that hat like eight takes in a row,” Seth bemoaned. “Like all in the skull.”

The hat throwing is only a piece of the chaos puzzle, Seth said, that was The Studio set. Who would expect anything less, though, than with a cast boasting Catherine O’Hara, Kathryn Hahn, Ike Barinholtz and Chase Sui Wonders.

“When we were actually filming it, I would say ‘settle,’” the Superbad alum explained, “which became code for like, ‘Everyone shut up.’ It’s the double-edged sword sometimes of working with your good friends. There’s a lot of leeway, but it can get unruly.”
