Whether you love making shopping lists or dread navigating a crowded store, grocery runs are an unavoidable part of life. The silver lining? Discovering new treats can make the weekly chore a little more enjoyable. Fortunately, we have plenty of shopper-backed inspiration for your next visit.
Since 2008 in the United States — and for more than 30 years globally — Product of the Year has been recognizing top consumer goods. The rankings are based on an online survey of 40,000 American shoppers who vote on submitted products launched since January 1, 2023. The results determine the top winners across 42 categories, including food, home, and personal products. (Kantar, one of the world’s largest market research firms, independently conducts the survey.)
In its 2025 announcement, Product of the Year emphasized that consumers’ shopping habits are largely shaped by trusted products and accessible pricing.
“The 2025 Product of the Year winners represent the pinnacle of innovation, showing how brands are addressing the evolving needs of today’s shoppers,” said Mike Nolan, global CEO of Product of the Year Management, in a statement provided to Food & Wine. “With the retail landscape becoming increasingly dynamic, our winners not only set themselves apart through innovation but also establish trust among consumers.”
2025 Product of the Year Award Winners
As for this year’s winners, the 17th annual awards ranked the best-of-the-best in the grocery aisle from the past year — with one retailer standing out in particular. Amid surging grocery prices, it’s no surprise that American shoppers are seeking value as they hunt for a good deal. And this year, Aldi — a Germany-headquartered, budget-friendly grocery chain with over 2,400 stores in the United States — dominated the food categories, with eight winning products, including the best wine.

Delicious snacks, entrées, and appetizers abound as top winners. Shoppers selected the Walmart-exclusive Texas Roadhouse Mini Rolls for the top spot in the Bakery Side Dish category, while Nutella’s B-Ready treats received acclaim as the fan-favorite Sweet Snack. Over in the dairy aisle, Organic Valley’s Spicy Cheddar slices were hailed as the top product in the Cheese category.
Beverages also saw budget-friendly picks come out on top. Folgers’ instant latte mix was most popular among shoppers, securing the No. 1 spot for coffee. Meanwhile, Aldi’s Summit Popz, a prebiotic soda launched in late 2024, won in the Healthy Beverage category. Impressively, Summit Popz beat out trendier name-brand competitors despite being an in-house Aldi product.
When it came to wine, survey respondents also took a modest approach, favoring affordability. Aldi-exclusive Sparkling Brut Rosé received the top honor for wine, at just under $12 per bottle. The verdict? Aldi is a goldmine for fantastic and budget-friendly finds, and we wholeheartedly agree.
