TikTok’s Egg Flights Are the Perfect Protein-Packed Snack

Egg lovers can appreciate fast and easy egg recipes to enjoy their favorite protein-heavy breakfast food. Enter TikTok’s latest egg flight trend that revamps traditional hard-boiled eggs and gives them a ton of flavor. And you don’t have to save them for breakfast only—egg flights haven’t been dubbed the new go-to girl dinner for nothing.

Here’s everything you need to know about TikTok’s egg flights and how you can make them yourself at home.

What Are Egg Flights?

Egg flights are hard-boiled eggs cut in half and garnished with various toppings for a quick, easy, and protein-packed meal. These bite-sized creations can look a lot like deviled eggs, but don’t require you to mix the yolk with mayo or mustard before adding any other toppers. (But you can if you want to!)

TikTok shows most at-home cooks boiling up three hard-boiled eggs and adding a different topping to each half, always making sure to include something with a little crunch for each bite.

Take TikTok user @heresyourbite’s version—showing how to create a filling with the yolk, dijon, shallot, garlic, tabasco, salt, pepper, and vinegar before adding the toppings like crumbled bacon and shredded cheddar or fire-roasted corn and lime juice.

How to Make an Egg Flight

To make your egg fight, you’ll first need to boil the eggs, then let them cool. Remove the shells, and then cut each egg in half.

TikTok user @hipfoodiemom1 says it’s important to start with a creamy base, such as a Japanese mayonnaise and any type of mustard, similar to when making deviled eggs. Add whichever you prefer directly on top of each half of the yolk, or mix it in.

She then adds kimchi drizzled in chili honey to two halves, hot and sweet jalapeños on two others, and homemade pickled red onions on the remaining eggs.

While you can add whatever toppings you like to your egg flight, the TikToker explains the key to making it work is adding the right mix of textures and flavor profiles: “The winning combo for these hard-boiled egg creations is creamy, tangy, and then crunchy sour on top.”

TikToker @tasmindhaliwal uses a huge variety of condiments and toppings on her egg flight, including everything from spicy chili crunch and everything bagel seasoning on some, to whole garlic clove with a crouton on another.
