To the guy who is mildly infuriated by their neighbor installing a camera to “watch the fence”, here is why I had to do exactly that.

Now, please understand that I totally agree that your neighbor put that camera there simply to be an asshat, and that’s not cool. But once upon a time, I was the guy who installed a camera to “watch the fence”, but it was for a legit reason that I’ll tell you about.

The story is that a while back, we kept finding random trash in our backyard and suspected our neighbor of throwing crap over the fence. When we told the neighbor to knock it off, we were stonewalled and told we were blaming them for no reason. I got frustrated when I found my dog eating table scraps that weren’t ours every time we let her out. When we called the cops, of course they were thoroughly unhelpful and wouldn’t even consider talking to them “without video evidence or something”. Well, I turned a camera toward the fence to watch the back yard and a few days later, I captured this video. Called the cops back, showed them the video, and she got charged with criminal mischief. The police report said she was “cited in lieu of custody.” I’m happy to report that we have found no trash in our yard since.

Oh, and by the way, you should mount an LED strobe right on top of that fence post pointing toward the camera. You can get them for like 30 bucks on Amazon.
