Val Kilmer leaves behind a remarkable legacy on the big screen, embodying everyone from Jim Morrison to Batman. One of his signature roles — and the one that inspired his memoir, I’m Your Huckleberry — was his scene-stealing portrayal of the real-life gunslinger Doc Holliday in Tombstone, co-starring Kurt Russell, Sam Elliott, and Bill Paxton.
Western buffs will have a new way to revisit one of Kilmer’s most iconic roles, as a new 4K Blu-ray of Tombstone is slated for release on April 22. The rerelease, distributed by Disney, was announced in late March. It was already a bestseller on Amazon’s Movies and TV category before the news of Kilmer’s passing.

Tombstone – UHD/BD Combo [Blu-ray]
Tombstone was inspired by the gunfight at the O.K. Corral, when lawmen led by the Earp brothers and their colleague Doc Holliday face off against a band of outlaws. The real-life shootout famously lasted less than a minute, but had an outsized impact on popular imagination thanks to countless adaptations in film.
Kilmer portrayed Doc Holliday, an associate of Wyatt Earp. While he wasn’t the lead, some of the most iconic lines from the film, including “I’m your Huckleberry” and “You’re no daisy,” were uttered by Val Kilmer. Kilmer’s portrayal subverted the tough gunslinger trope, adding vulnerability to the character, who was beset by tuberculosis and alcoholism.
The 4K Blu-ray will be released as a collectible Steelbook, with the steel case featuring a U.S. Marshal badge design. In addition to the 4K remaster, the Blu-ray includes behind-the-scenes content, including a making-of featurette and original storyboards for the O.K. Corral Sequence.
