Written and illustrated by Makoto Yukimura, each deluxe hardcover contains three volumes of the manga and come with several extras. At around $50 each, these deluxe editions are in line with similar manga releases, including Berserk, which has 14 beautiful deluxe editions. The big draw here is the presentation, as you’re getting the chaos of the Viking war for dominance over England compiled in elegant hardbound books that eclipse 600 pages each. Unsurprisingly, the deluxe editions are much larger than the regular paperback collections, so you can really admire the fine detail of Yukimura’s elegant art, while the faux leather covers feature Viking runes in their design.

On top of that, the new edition features all of the content of the original release, exclusive bonus illustrations, interviews, and new behind-the-scenes content. As mentioned, the first volume is set to launch on February 6, and it’ll be followed by three more editions roughly every two to three months this year. The first two editions have been discounted to $50, while the remaining editions will be $55 each. These are also thick tomes of Viking adventures, and on average, each one has around 650 pages to read through.

These make for pretty great gifts for the manga and anime fans in your life, a classy collection of exquisitely violent art and introspective storytelling anchored by Yukimura’s adaptation of several ancient Viking stories.

In other anime/manga news, the 1997 Berserk series is coming to Blu-ray on March 26, and you can preorder the beloved adaptation now.
